The Art of Quality

Since my home is evolving I wanted a neutral rug that could transition with any chosen colour scheme. If I want to bring in pops of colour the rug had to work with my choice of the season. The Beni Ourain rugs seemed a perfect choice because they’re usually white and gray with black accents. But they’re usually 4-5 figures putting them out of my price range.

Fast forward to this summer when all the rugs were on sale everywhere I looked. And as luck would have it, I got a West Elm Beni Ourain inspired rug for a lot less money but still rich in quality. This hand-woven rug in slate gray with an off white diamond pattern is so much better in person.  This picture doesn’t do it justice whatsoever. I chose a deep pile rug made of 100% wool so it’s deliciously soft. I can’t tell you how much pleasure it gives me to walk into the room every morning and see my Beni Ourain inspired rug. My rug was hand-woven in India by local artisans who are members of Craftwork an association authenticating handcrafted work. Craftwork also connects artisans to a broader market to sell their wares globally.

Inspired by Beni Ourain

My rug was hand-woven in India by local artisans who are members of Craftwork an association authenticating handcrafted work. Craftwork connects artisans to a broader market to sell their wares globally. Beni Ourain rugs are sold for a variety of prices making them a great investment for resale purposes in the future. The ethnic group that make Beni Ourain rugs originate from a mountainous region in Morocco where keeping warm would be a priority.  My West Elm Beni Ourain inspired rug also has the same warm cozy quality, and if I were to wrap myself in this rug it would keep the cold out quite nicely. I ordered this rug online because it wasn’t available at the store, and the sale price was far less online. Delivery was quick, I may have waited a week for it to arrive. West Elm has since retired my particular rug but the same rug is available in the reverse colours in off white with a slate gray pattern.
